Ingredients

For the apple filling:

4 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and diced

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

For the crumble topping:

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

For serving:

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Apples: In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, and nutmeg (if using). Toss until the apples are well-coated. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Make the Crumble Topping: In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter, and using your fingertips or a pastry cutter, mix until crumbly. The mixture should resemble coarse crumbs with some larger chunks.

Assemble the Glasses: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Take small jars or glasses — about 8 oz each. Begin by adding a generous layer of the apple mixture to the bottom of each jar, filling it about halfway.

Add the Crumble Topping: Sprinkle a generous amount of the crumble mixture over the apple filling in each jar, pressing it down lightly to create a cohesive layer.

Bake the Crumbles: Place the jars on a baking sheet and bake them in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the crumble is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don't over-brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the jars from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
