Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, and salt. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Mix until combined.

Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough forms a sticky ball. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 18x12 inches.

Spread the Filling: In a bowl, mix together the softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon until well combined. Spread the mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly distribute the apple filling over the dough.

Roll and Slice: Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal. Cut into 12-15 rolls using a sharp knife or a dental floss. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls loosely with plastic wrap or a cloth and let them rise for 30-45 minutes until they puff up.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Rolls: Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Prepare the Glaze: While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more powdered sugar or milk as needed.

Glaze and Serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top. Allow the rolls to cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.
