Ingredients

1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

1 cup broccoli florets

1/2 cup sliced onions

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Green onions, chopped, for garnish

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Flank Steak: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch until evenly coated. This helps to tenderize the meat and create a crispy exterior when cooked.

Make the Stir Fry Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large wok or skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches (to avoid overcrowding) and stir-fry until browned and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Stir Fry the Vegetables: In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger, stir-frying for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the red and yellow bell peppers along with the broccoli florets. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

Combine Beef and Sauce: Return the cooked beef to the wok with the vegetables. Pour the prepared stir fry sauce over everything, tossing well to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce is slightly thickened.

Serve: Remove from heat, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over cooked jasmine rice.
