Ingredients

For the Biscuit Crust:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, diced

3/4 cup buttermilk

For the Sausage Gravy:

1 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes for heat

For the Pizza Topping:

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon (optional)

2 large eggs

Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Biscuit Crust:

    - Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

        - Using a pastry cutter or your hands, incorporate the diced cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

          - Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined. Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth.

            - Roll out the dough to fit a greased pizza pan (approximately 12 inches). Transfer to the pan, pressing evenly to form the crust. Poke holes with a fork to prevent bubbling.

              Make the Sausage Gravy:

                - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.

                  - Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

                    - Slowly whisk in the milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Adjust the seasoning and add crushed red pepper flakes if desired.

                      Assemble the Breakfast Pizza:

                        - Spread a generous layer of sausage gravy over the biscuit crust, leaving a small border around the edges.

                          - Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the gravy.

                            - If using, scatter crumbled bacon on top of the cheese.

                              Add the Eggs:

                                - Make two small wells on the pizza to create space for the eggs. Crack an egg into each well.

                                  - Optionally, add a pinch of salt and pepper over the eggs for extra flavor.

                                    Bake the Pizza:

                                      - Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the eggs are set to your liking.

                                        Serve:

                                          - Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with freshly chopped chives or parsley before slicing.

                                            - Serve hot and enjoy your delicious breakfast pizza!
