4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

½ cup whole milk, warmed

½ cup water, warmed

¼ cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)

2 large eggs

1 tsp salt

1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage or bacon

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup diced bell peppers (any color)

¼ cup chopped green onions

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this to the yeast mixture.

      Combine and Knead: Add the melted butter and eggs to the mixture. Use a wooden spoon or your hands to bring the dough together. Once combined, knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

        First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it's doubled in size.

          Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, in a bowl, mix the cooked sausage or bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, diced bell peppers, green onions, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.

            Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough.

              Roll and Cut: Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

                Second Rise: Place the rolls upright in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until they puff up.

                  Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                    Bake the Rolls: Once the rolls have risen, brush the tops with melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.

                      Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. For an extra touch, brush them with more melted butter and sprinkle with some coarse sea salt.
