Ingredients

For the Brownie Base:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the Cheesecake Swirl:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Batter:

      - In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

        - In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

          - Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Set aside.

            Prepare the Cheesecake Mixture:

              - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

                - Add in the sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and flour. Mix until well combined and no lumps remain.

                  Assemble the Brownies:

                    - Pour approximately two-thirds of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

                      - Dollop the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter, then drop the remaining brownie batter in spoonfuls over the cheesecake layer.

                        - Using a knife or a toothpick, gently swirl the brownie and cheesecake layers together to create a marble effect. Be careful not to over-mix.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs. The cheesecake should be set but still slightly jiggle in the center.

Cool and Serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes. For best results, refrigerate for an hour before cutting into squares. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
