Ingredients

1 cup (226g) unsalted butter

2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (85g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (170g) chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup (50g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix Wet Ingredients: Once the butter has cooled, stir in the sugar until fully combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Finally, add the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

Blend Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.

Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using, for an extra layer of flavor.

Pour into Baking Dish: Transfer the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not completely dry).

Cool and Cut: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper and cutting them into squares.

Serve: Enjoy them warm, or let them cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Perfect with a scoop of ice cream on top!
