2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional, for extra spice)

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

4 hamburger buns (whole grain or your choice)

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 ripe tomato, sliced

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon chipotle sauce or chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce (if using). Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for better flavor and tenderness.

    Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

      Prepare Breading: In a shallow dish, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.

        Coat the Chicken: Remove the marinated chicken from the fridge. One at a time, dredge each chicken breast in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down to ensure it sticks well. Place the breaded chicken on the lined baking sheet.
