1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1/4 cup finely chopped red onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons BBQ sauce (plus more for serving)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped

4 small slider buns

Lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles for toppings

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Mash the Chickpeas: In a large mixing bowl, add the rinsed chickpeas. Using a fork or potato masher, mash them until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for added texture.

      Combine Ingredients: To the mashed chickpeas, add breadcrumbs, chopped red onion, minced garlic, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and parsley or cilantro. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

        Form Patties: With your hands, form the mixture into small patties, about the size of your slider buns. You should get approximately 4-6 patties depending on your desired size.

          Bake the Sliders: Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle (or spray) a little olive oil on top to help them crisp up and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

            Assemble the Sliders: Once cooked, place each crispy chickpea patty on a slider bun. Add your desired toppings, such as lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. Drizzle additional BBQ sauce on top for extra flavor.
