Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted

3 large eggs

1 cup chopped pecans

For the Cream Cheese Topping:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup chopped pecans (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Prepare Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 3 large eggs. Mix until well combined—about 2 to 3 minutes. Fold in 1 cup of chopped pecans.

Spread Cake Batter: Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly to cover the bottom.

Prepare Cream Cheese Topping: In another mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup of softened butter together until smooth and creamy.

Add Eggs and Sugar: Add in the 3 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and smooth.

Pour Topping Over Cake Batter: Carefully pour the cream cheese mixture on top of the cake batter. Do not mix—allow it to sink through the batter. Sprinkle the additional 1 cup of chopped pecans on top.

Bake the Cake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs (a gooey texture is expected).

Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting. Slice into squares and serve warm. For an added touch, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
