1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)

Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil for frying

For the Hot Honey:

1/2 cup honey

1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Pinch of salt

For the Biscuits:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

For Serving:

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour to tenderize. If time allows, marinate overnight in the refrigerator.

Prepare Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, combine honey, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt. Warm over low heat until well mixed. Adjust the spice level by adding more red pepper flakes if desired. Set aside.

Prepare the Biscuits: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter, cutting it into the flour using a pastry cutter or fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Pour in buttermilk gradually, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

Shape the Biscuits: Turn the biscuit dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it 5-6 times. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or the rim of a glass. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the Biscuits: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and rising.

Fry the Chicken: While the biscuits are baking, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. In a separate bowl, mix flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, coating evenly.

Cook the Chicken: Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken breasts (you may need to do this in batches). Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

Assemble the Biscuits: Once the biscuits are done, slice them in half. Place a piece of fried chicken inside, drizzle generously with hot honey, and garnish with chopped parsley.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuits warm for a delicious treat that combines spicy, sweet, and savory flavors!
