The origin of brownies dates back to the late 19th century, with various accounts attributing their creation to different bakers. Some believe they were invented by a chef who forgot to add baking powder to a chocolate cake recipe, while others suggest that they emerged from the kitchens of American women looking for a quick and easy dessert option. Regardless of their beginnings, brownies quickly gained popularity and have since evolved into countless variations, including blondies, fudge brownies, and, of course, the beloved Oreo Delight Brownies.

Ingredients

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar

1 cup (180g) packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour

½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

10 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped

10 Oreo cookies, whole (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined and smooth.

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture. Whisk until the mixture is light in color and fluffy.

Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the chopped Oreo cookies, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the brownie batter.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Top the brownie mixture with the whole Oreo cookies, pressing them lightly into the batter to ensure they stick.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice into squares and serve. Optional: drizzle with melted chocolate or serve with whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat!
