8 oz (225g) of fettuccine or spaghetti

6 slices of thick-cut bacon, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

    Sauté the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the chopped bacon. Cook until crispy, stirring occasionally, about 5-7 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving the rendered bacon fat in the skillet.
