Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

1/4 cup milk

1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

2 cups marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, chopped basil, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour in the milk and mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Shape the Meatballs: Using clean hands, form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet. You should have about 20-24 meatballs.

Sear the Meatballs: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add half of the meatballs and sear for about 2-3 minutes on all sides, until they are nicely browned. Repeat with the remaining meatballs.

Bake the Meatballs: Once seared, transfer the meatballs back to the baking sheet and place them in the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Heat the Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.

Serve: Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve them in the marinara sauce, garnished with additional herbs or grated Parmesan if desired.

Enjoy! Pair with spaghetti, on a sub roll, or on their own for a deliciously satisfying meal.
