Ingredients

1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and diced

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened (or vegan cream cheese)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: Cracked black pepper or balsamic glaze for drizzling

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Toast the Baguette: Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Strawberry Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the diced strawberries, chopped basil, balsamic vinegar, and honey. Gently toss to coat the strawberries. Add salt and pepper to taste. Allow this mixture to marinate for about 10-15 minutes for the flavors to meld.

Assemble the Bruschetta: Spread a generous layer of cream cheese on each toasted baguette slice. Top with the marinated strawberry and basil mixture.

Finishing Touches: If desired, drizzle with balsamic glaze or sprinkle with cracked black pepper for an added touch of flavor.

Serve: Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and enjoy immediately as a refreshing appetizer or a light snack!
