Ingredients

For the BBQ Mac and Cheese:

2 cups elbow macaroni

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Burgers:

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese

4 hamburger buns

Optional toppings: pickles, sliced onions, coleslaw, additional BBQ sauce

For Garnish:

Fresh chives or parsley, chopped

Instructions

Cook the macaroni: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make the cheese sauce: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly until bubbly. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth, and continue cooking until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

Add cheeses and seasonings: Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and creamy. Mix in the BBQ sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, and stir well to coat.

Prepare the burgers: While the macaroni is cooling, preheat the grill to medium-high heat. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.

Grill the patties: Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on your preferred doneness. In the last minute of grilling, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the burgers: Toast the hamburger buns on the grill until lightly browned. On the bottom half of each bun, place a cheeseburger patty, followed by a generous scoop of BBQ mac and cheese. Add any optional toppings you like, then top with the other half of the bun.

Serve: Garnish with chopped chives or parsley, and serve immediately with additional BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.
